Dan is considered one of the compensation industry’s “go-to” experts on the topic of equity compensation.

    Dan is frequently requested as a dynamic and humorous speaker covering compensation and motivation topics. Speaking engagements include annual conferences for World at Work, NASPP, GEO, NCEO, AICPA, numerous webinars, and regional and local events. Dan has been quoted in publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Business Insider, The Information, and Quartz. A prolific writer, Dan has written hundreds of blog articles and white papers. He has also authored or co-authored the following books: “Performance-based Equity Compensation," ”Everything in Compensation is Communication," “The Decision Makers Guide to Equity Compensation," “If I’d Only Known That," “GEOnomics 2011," and “Equity Alternatives””

    Dan has served on the board of directors for the National Center for Employee Ownership and the advisory board for HR.com. He is an active member of World at Work, SHRM, the Society for Certified Equity Professionals, the Global Equity Organization (GEO), and the National Association of Stock Plan Professionals (NASPP). He is the founder of Equity Compensation Experts, which is the largest independent networking group for equity compensation professionals. He has earned the designation of Fellow of Global Equity (FGE) through the Global Equity Organization, Certified Executive Compensation Professional (CECP) through World at Work, and Certified Equity Professional (CEP) through Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.

    Dan lives in Portland, Oregon, with his wife and son. He passionately supports causes like childhood adoption and education. Dan’s hobbies include photography, and he makes pretty darn good guacamole.
