Believe and Achieve

It’s like that quote, “if your dreams don’t scare you, they’re not big enough.” We all know well and good what we are capable of, for the most part. After all, we’re only human. We tend to keep personal stats. Our own, and (why of course, others). Heck, we’re a competitive bunch. We record our highs for mere documentation, and revel on our lows when we need a kick in the pants. We base things off of probability and numbers -- things like personal goals, success, and even happiness.
But let me ask you this. If happiness is making a difference in someone else’s day, have you achieved it? I suppose everyone’s happiness barometer differs, but even so, are you surpassing your goals? Or, are you content with reaching them and going no further? As far as I am concerned, a person’s or company’s potential is limitless. Even though (as per mentioned before) we know what we are capable of, we don’t know everything.
We are constantly on the hamster wheel (work-wise) -- going to work, going to meetings, tending to clients, being on conference calls, traveling… the works. But we aren’t mindless drones. Occasionally, we are confronted with challenges, ideas, and opportunities for us to grow and further develop as people. It’s our choice, however, to decide to grasp and embrace those things. We may not know when and in what form they will show up in our lives, and where they will take us, but doing something different, and changing up our routine can do us a world of good.
It’s perfectly fine, and normal in fact, to be nervous and afraid of bigger and better things. We’ve talked about our comfort zones in previous blog posts, and while they can feel safe, they’re also hindering us from becoming better versions of ourselves. One thing we don’t do enough of, is believe in ourselves. We’re taught to encourage the group, the team, the colleagues, to work together and so forth. But who is encouraging you? Finding a way to believe in yourself and what you stand for is a way to acknowledge not only what-is, but what can be. In a way, it’s looking at your purpose, and practicing goal-setting. We have no way of looking into that metaphorical crystal ball and seeing what lies ahead. But we can prepare ourselves, based on what goals we currently have, and the ones we will make for ourselves once we’ve achieved the others. #BelieveandAchieve
